Zinnias are possibly the easiest and most popular flowers to grow from seed. Compared to their counterparts, they require less sunlight, water, and overall care for successful germination, even during the winter months.
Unlike some flowers that are limited to the ground, Zinnias defy such constraints. They can flourish in a variety of settings, including containers, window boxes, raised garden beds, and even in nutrient-deficient soil.
Undeniably beautiful, Zinnias are not without their vulnerabilities. Excessive moisture in the soil can lead to the onset of fungus, which in turn can cause root rot. This not only impacts the flowers’ colors but also affects the duration of their blooms. Therefore, proper soil drainage is essential to ensure their longevity and vibrant hues.
